Terrance James Ferguson Obituary
Terrance James Ferguson

He came. He joked. He loved. Gone too soon from this world, Terrance James Ferguson (age 70), of Barberton, Ohio, passed away at home on August 9, 2018 in the care of Hospice, following an extended battle with leukemia.

Surrounded by his family, and with the support of friends and family across the nation, Terry faced his death the same way he lived... with courage, integrity, inner strength, compassion, intelligence, and zinging one-liners.

October was a good month for Terry. He was born on October 26th in Tupper Lake, N.Y., and he married the love of his life on October 4th. He and Dr. Linda (Batovsky) Ferguson were just shy of celebrating 49 years of blissful marriage.

Together they traveled the world (all 50 states and more than 41 countries), built a business (Glendora Health Care Center from 1990-2002), and impacted the lives of all who met them. Terry deeply loved his family, counting his wedding and the births of his children and grandchildren as the top moments in his life. Father to three, honored supporter of his children in-law, and grandfather of seven.

Known for his quick wit and even sharper intelligence, Terry honorably served in the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines and several bases during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Cleveland State University (Delta Sigma Phi), earned his MBA from University of Colorado, and was licensed by the state of Ohio for nursing home administration.

He leaves behind a gaping hole in countless lives, including children: Bonnie (John) Hall, Brent (Elizabeth) Ferguson, and Bethe Ferguson (David Oeters); and grandchildren: Meghan, Bryce, Peyton, Evan, Eliana, Liam, and Elise. He was preceded into death by Dr. Leo and Germaine (DeMoore) Ferguson. He is survived by his siblings: Leo (Jackie) Ferguson Jr., Mark (Cindi) Ferguson, Dianne Ferguson Ten Eyck, Brian (Vicky) Ferguson, Jeff Ferguson, and Colleen (Dan) Nicholas.

Cremation has occurred. Per Terry's request, there will not be a service; an Irish wake will take place in the future. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
