She was born on May 18, 1913 to Maggie and Dewitt Murray. She was the youngest of four children being raised while in Port Gibson, Mississippi. She moved to Akron, Ohio in 1936 with her husband. She was a faithful Sunday school teacher for almost 50 years. Some of her activities included missionary, choir, an active member of the service league and active pianist.

She was preceded in death by father, Dewitt; mother, Maggie; brother, Dewitt Jr. and Weaver; sister, Vivian Ophelia; husband, Joe Williams; sisters-in-law, Dessie (Robert) Morris and Eva Lee; and brother-in-law, Thomas Williams (TJ). Carolyn is survived by nephew, Thomas (LaToya) Williams; niece, Gladys Carter; cousin, Marguerite (Mack) Parker; godchildren, Stephen (Judy) Powell; caregiver, Carolynda Dortch; and a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Lorene Pitts and Vivian Burgan.
