Eleanor Klivans Obituary

Eleanor Segars Klivans, age 90, of Warren, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 8:50 a.m. at Windsor House in Champion.

She was born July 17, 1922 in Byesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Dufala Rebovich. Mrs. Klivans first worked as a seamstress at Marshalls Dept. Store in Barberton, Ohio and then worked as a beautician at Halle's Dept. Store in Akron for many years. Eleanor was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Warren.

As a child, she danced toe and tap and did acrobatics. She sewed, crocheted and knitted; Mrs. Klivans enjoyed bingo, making crafts, quilts, pillows, dolls as she sewed all her life. Eleanor was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers Fan.

Her family loved who she was, loved her hopeful spirit and how she cared about things far bigger than herself. We loved how strong and good and resilient she was. Simply put, we couldn't be prouder that she was our Mom and Grandma. She will always remain in our hearts.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy Salem of Akron and Judy Mackey of Warren; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Morris of Akron.

Other than her parents; Eleanor was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Henry T. Segars and her 2nd husband, Jim Klivans; and her siblings, Helen Nemeth, Betty Goodman and Joseph and John Rebovich.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church at 7 p.m., Sunday, December 30, 2012 where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Michelle Nickodemus will celebrate Eleanor's life. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at 5734 Mahoning Avenue, Warren, Ohio 44483 or to the Trumbull Senior Production Company, 3323 Parkman Road NW, Warren, Ohio 44481.
