Carissa Kay Ewing, 28, of Akron, passed away November 20, 2014.
She was born February 24, 1986, the beloved daughter of the late Dale and Belinda (Dennison) Ewing. Carissa was a loving mother to her children, Blake and Alexander who, along with her mother, Belinda, sister, Alexa, and David Halay, life partner to Carissa and father to Blake and Alex, survive.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 28, 2014, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a service following, at Adams Mason Funeral Home, 791 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305. (ADAMS MASON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 330-535-9186)

The golden gates were open and a gentle voice said come. Carissa went home to be with God and find peace. She will always be loved and remembered by all who loved her. She will live in the hearts of her boys, and Dave.

RIP Carissa. I have sat for the past week writing poems, trying to come up with something that would send her off to heaven with justice, but nothing I wrote was good enough. It is now the day of her wake and felt I had to come up with something that would honor her legacy. I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with her for a few weeks several months back and the memory that stands out during those weeks was Carissa pulling up to the Tallmadge exit off Rte 8 north and her rolling down her window to give a homeless woman holding a sign some cigarettes. It surprised me because they immediately struck up conversation like Carissa knew her for a long time. That I believe, was Carissa's most endearing quality. She had a smile for everyone she came in contact with and always made everyone and anyone feel that they mattered. Her beautiful blue eyes always beamed with acceptance no matter who you were. She had the most sweet disposition and I am forever heartbroken at the loss of this beautiful, special person. Please pray for her boys, they were everything to her. Dave Halay, I want you to know she told me during those weeks that you were her best friend and constant. For all that knew her, the loss of our friend and loved one is a tragedy of all tragedies. She always looked at everyone with admiration and acceptance, she always looked up not down. God bless this beautiful spirit. Hugs and kisses, Carissa Kay. You will be greatly missed. I love you, girlfriend, always and forever!!!
