PATRIOT — George E. Carpenter, age 86, of Patriot, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Gallipolis.
George was born in Patriot to the late Floyd and Lucy (Mossbarger) Carpenter on May 25, 1934. He married Laura (Brown) Carpenter on December 29, 1961. He retired after 30 years of service from General Motors in Dayton, Ohio. He was a lifetime member and Master Mason of the Patriot Lodge #496.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his siblings, Fred, Elmer, Nora, Margaret, Goldie, Martha and Julie.
George is survived by his wife, Laura; his brother, Frank; sister, Ethel; children, David (Debbie) of Patriot, Ohio, Christi (William) Hayden, of Dallas, Georgia, Bonnie Jones, of Springfield, Ohio, Peggy (Gary) Maynard, of Springfield, Ohio and Elaine (Michael) Wheeler, of Patriot, Ohio; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
The family of George wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Arbors of Gallipolis for taking such good care of him during his stay.
Friends may call Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Masonic services will immediately follow at 7:30 p.m. performed by the Patriot Lodge #496. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Pastor William Zink officiating. Burial will follow in Gallia Baptist Cemetery. Per CDC guidelines and Governor recommendations, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
