Charles Richardson Obituary

November 4, 1929 - December 7, 2011 TULSA Charles Holt Richardson was born in a teacherage in Ray City, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma on November 4, 1929 (six days after the crash of the stock market). He was the son of Holt N. and Ida Mae Teague Richardson. His parents were school administrators and teachers during the central Oklahoma oil field boom. Charles passed away after a long illness on December 7, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, lovingly cared for by his wife of 26 years, Anna Louise Arnold Richardson. Charles graduated from high school in Lenapah, Oklahoma and from college at Southern Methodist University. He received his Bachelors of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. Charles was ordained into ministry in the Methodist Church and served churches in Norman, Mooreland, Sulphur, Mangum, Tulsa, Durant, and Oklahoma City. He also served as District Superintendent for the Oklahoma City South District and was the director of Methodist Manor in Tulsa from 1988 to 1994. He is preceded in death by wife, Margaret Wilson Richardson, in 1983, and brother, Bill, in 2006. Charles is survived by wife, Anna Richardson. He is also survived by children Beth, Charlie, and Thomas and grandchildren, Alana, Marc, and Samantha. He was a loving step-father to Trish Deal, Amy and Vic Caudle, and grandfather to Trey, Lindsey, and Madison Lewis, and Melanie and Samuel Caudle. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Charles' memory to OMRF (Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation) for Alzheimer's Research.
