G. Dewayne Oltermann MUSTANG

G. Dewayne Oltermann went to be with his Lord on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at the age of 84. He was born Dec. 21, 1935, in Hobart, OK to Gerhardt and Lela (Wilson) Oltermann. Dewayne attended Will Rogers Elementary before transferring to Mustang, where he graduated in 1953. He went on to Central State University in Edmond and earned his degree in math and physics. Dewayne started his career for the Navy in guided missiles for two years at Point Mugu, CA before going to work for FAA as an Electronic Engineer. While at the FAA, he was instrumental in the development of the ILS/MLS Landing System for the airports and also helped write the Maintenance Manual. He retired after 49 years, and then returned as a contract employee for another 15 years. His final retirement was in 2015. When he wasn't on the job, he would be taking care of his family and treating his bride like a QUEEN. One could find him in his garden or at his church (Chisholm Heights Baptist Church), where he was the Sunday School Director for 49 years, (the longest tenure for a nonpaid volunteer on record with the Oklahoma Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma). He had served as a deacon since 1975, and on various committees. He married the love of his life Patricia Ann (Luttrell) on Aug. 13, 1960. Dewayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; daughter, Kimberly and her husband Charlie; son, Karl and his wife Rhonda; his seven grandchildren, Timothy Short and wife Melissa, Kasey Oltermann and wife Bailey, Karen Short, Michael Short and wife Marisa, Karlee Hill and husband Dylan, Joe Hall and fiancée Darci DeVous, and Brooklynn Benton; and his great-grandchildren, Tristan Short and Orion Short, and another to arrive soon; also, by brothers, Glen and wife Cleona and Ralph and wife Jean; sister, Ethelyn Connor; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service is at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church with interment in the Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, OK.
