FLOYD HARRIS

Feb. 19, 1925 - Mar. 4, 2015 BETHANY Floyd Irwin Harris, son of Floyd and Essie Harris, was born in Blanco County, Iowa, on February 19, 1925. Irwin passed away on March 4, 2015. His family moved to Windyville, MO in 1928, where he graduated from high school in 1942. He graduated from Bethany Peniel College (now Southern Nazarene University) in 1948, then from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1953. Irwin married Doris Rose Mills on August 20, 1949. They pastored Nazarene churches in Monett, MO; Cleveland, OH; Clinton, OH; Ravenna, OH; Columbia, SC In and Friendship Church, Stuart, OK. In 1966, he became Director of Endowment at Bethany Nazarene College (now SNU). In 1972, he became sales manager and personnel director at Mathis Brothers Furniture Store for twelve years, then retired to Stuart, OK where ranched, raising limousin cattle. Irwin and Doris had five children: Paul Douglas Harris, James Irwin Harris, Michael Dwayne Harris, David Alan Harris, and Donna Marie Earls. Doris predeceased him, as did his parents and four sisters, Axine, Maxine, Florence, and Margaree. Irwin is survived by his wife, Arlita, of Southern Plaza in Bethany, Oklahoma, his 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, and his brothers, Donald of Kahoka, Missouri and Dale of Chino Valley, Arizona. He was a member of Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene (Oklahoma City) and of the Association of Retired Ministers and Missionaries, the Association of Senior Professionals, and the Bethany Improvement Foundation. Memorial donations may be made to the Rev. O.O. Mills Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o of Todd Brant, Southern Nazarene University, 6729 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008. A graveside service will be held at Pryor Cemetery, Stuart, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
