James D. Nowlin
June 28, 1948 - Nov. 19, 2020

James D. "Jim" Nowlin, 72, of Mustang, passed away on Nov. 19, 2020, after a short illness. James was born to Jim & Mary Ellen (Perkins) Nowlin on June 28, 1948. He lived most of his life in Mustang, OK and was a 1966 graduate of Mustang High School. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Kathy (George) Nowlin, in 1968. He was a graduate of Oklahoma University, graduating in 1970 with a degree in business administration. After he and Kathy married, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany; Jim retired as a captain. Jim spent his professional career in the oil and gas industry. Jim loved spending time with family, working on the family farm, OU football and helping others learn about Mustang's history. Jim served as President of the Mustang Historical Society and organized many Mustang Alumni events. He loved family get-togethers, Christmas being one of his favorites, where his Christmas morning French toast will be greatly missed. He loved unconditionally and was always available to help a friend or a loved one. Jim is survived by Kathy, his wife of 52 years; sons, Chris and Rhonda Nowlin, and Pat Nowlin; grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Thatcher, Cambree, Kylie, Raker and Rory; great-grandchildren, Timbre, Cam, Teighan, Olivia, and Ellie; and his siblings, Larry and Connie Nowlin, Loraine and Frank Avila, Randy and Renee Nowlin, and their extended families. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary Ellen Nowlin. There will not be a memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a donation to the Mustang Historical Society, 470 W. Highway 152, Mustang, OK 73064.

We had good times growing up in Mustang. Served with Jimmy one year planning a reunion for the class of 1966.
