We knew Phyllis at Craigmyle. One of our best memories is when our son took clothes to the Hanna coin wash and Phyllis introduced herself to him and then helped him fold the clothes. She explained to him that she had spent many hours in the coin wash waiting for Lanny to be done practise. He was impressed and so were we.

To the family of Phyllis McDonald:
I suppose, that as with any family with a working mother, there were times when she would come home from work tired from the day's activities or not be able to do something with you because she was at work, but as one of the many students blessed to have had her as a teacher, I am so glad she was a part of my life too!
40+ years later, I realize that the lessons I learned from her that I have retained the longest, are not lessons of art and literature, but of life! Her enthusiasm for life and people was so contagious that one couldn't help being caught up in it! Her appreciation for every individual, and her ability to make every student feel good about themselves and their efforts was such an attribute!
Thank- you for sharing her life with me.

I am sorry to hear about Phyllis McDonald. She was my Art teacher in high school. Aunt Phil was an inspiration to me in my drawings and paintings. She saw the right tones to help my paintings pop. There was always encouragement and a quick touch on the shoulder. Rest now your work is done. To the family the memories will remain in your hearts. Time will heal the pain of the loss but you will never forget.

I loved Mrs.Mcdonald! From grade 6 when we moved to Hanna she always was so great to me, taking extra time to make sure I was doing ok. Then having her again in High School for art.She was always so happy to see me and loved me like she did with most everyone she greeted! I loved the way she dressed with such color and style! What a "Lady"!! There are not enough words to describe such a beautiful person that touched the hearts of everyone she met! Our deepest sympathy from all of the family of John & Merna Shields

So many of my great memories growing up in the Hand Hills involve Phyllis. She was an amazing woman! She touched so many lives! I will never forget when she asked me to go ride around the lake with her but she was going to ride side saddle. I said okay but Phyllis I am gonna ride normal or I'll probably fall off. She laughed and said you young ones are spoiled lol. RIP Phyllis you left a legacy that none of us will ever forget. And you most definitely left your mark in the Hand Hills.
