FRANKLINVILLE - Rowena R. "Tate" Ulmer, formerly of Green St., died Saturday (April 10, 2021) at The Pines in Machias, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Franklinville, she was the daughter of Victor and Beatrice Brady Milks. On Oct. 25, 1946, in Franklinville, she married Robert J. Ulmer, who died July 10, 2008.
Mrs. Ulmer was a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, and was employed there as a teacher's aide and remedial reading aide, for Franklinville Central School.
"Tate" was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklinville and cooked at Camp JYC. She also was a driver for Interfaith Caregivers and delivered Meals-on-Wheels.
She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, Boneka Chapter 522, in Franklinville.
Surviving is a son, Daniel Ulmer of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Becky (Ronald) Weller of Shamokin, Pa. and Amy (Marvin) Howard of Franklinville; eight grandchildren, Mark Ulmer, Christi Parrish, Matthew Weller, Heidi Mackey, Eric Weller, Kevin Howard, Amanda Enderby and Jennifer Close; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Trafton Milks, Victor Milks and Roland "Rod" Milks; and two sisters, Joyce Steffenhagen and Margie Blecha.
Friends may gather with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (April 14, 2021) in the First Baptist Church, 27 S. Main St., Franklinville. Celebrating her life will be Ronald Weller. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville.
