Ruby A. Skroback

1926 - 2021

ALLEGANY - Ruby A. Skroback, 94, of Four Mile Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday (Jan. 27, 2021) at Olean General Hospital, after a recent illness.

Born July 23, 1926, in Allegany, she was the daughter of Oakley and Catherine Lauer Phearsdorf Sr. On June 25, 1949, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, she married Steven E. Skroback, who predeceased her April 1, 1989.

Ruby was a 1944 graduate of Allegany High School. She worked for a period of time for the former Rathburn Molding Co. in Salamanca as well as Acme Electric Co. in Allegany.

She was a long-time member of St. Bonaventure Church, as well as its Altar and Rosary Society, and also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America and the Allegany Area Historical Association. She volunteered with the Homecare and Hospice Guild and helped with other organizations in the area.

She was a devoted mother who enjoyed her family and her flower garden.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Denise Skroback of Allegany.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Valerie J. Skroback on Oct. 2, 2001.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (Jan. 30, 2021 . A funeral service will begin at noon in the funeral home. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
