ELLICOTTVILLE - Thomas R. Mercer, 55, of Ellicottville, passed away Thursday (April 8, 2021) at his home.

He was born on March 13, 1966, in Salamanca, son of the late Roger and Patricia Loveless Mercer.

Tom had worked at the former DJ's Diner in Ellicottville for many years, before working at the Salamanca Antiques Mall, where he was currently employed.

Tom was seen all around Ellicottville, whether walking or riding his bike, and will be missed by many. He was a member of the Holy Name of Mary RC Church in Ellicottville.

He enjoyed his hobbies of playing cards, collecting model cars and license plates, and he especially enjoyed animals.

Mr. Mercer is survived by a sister, Teresa Wagner of Ellicottville; a niece, Calla (Ryan Monroe) Wagner of Little Valley; and many cousins, loving family members and friends.

Tom was also very close with and enjoyed his time with his loving aunt, Lucille Harris, who predeceased him on Feb. 22, 2020.

Private family services will be held.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Ellicottville.

Memorials may be made to the Almost Home Animal Sanctuary, 6251 Hart Road, Little Valley, NY 14755 or E.A.R.S. at facebook.com/EmpireAnimalRescue.

Our deepest condolences go out to Teresa and Calla over their loss of Tommy...So many times we interacted with him during our long tenure in Ellicottville, both where we worked (M&T Bank & Holy Name of Mary RC Church), as well as around town, walking with his faithful dog Beula!...His demeanor was always so upbeat, and his laugh was something we'll never forget! We got to see and interact with him on several occasions after our time in Ellicottville when we visited Salamanca Antique mall with our grandaughter; he helping us with items we would pick out for us and her...Rest in piece Tommy, you surely will be missed.
