Carl Musak Sr.Canastota, N.Y. >> Carl Musak, Sr., 87, of 308 State St., Canastota, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Oneida Healthcare, following a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 2, 1930, in Rockaway, N.J., a son of the late Charles and Jeanette (Bond) Musak. Carl spent his early years in New Jersey and Oneida, attending the Oneida schools. He has lived in Canastota most of his life. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for Sears Oil Company for many years, later working for DiVeronica Brothers Construction Company in Canastota, and retired from Worlock Paving Company in Canastota, after working there several years. Carl served in Germany with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing, boating, cars, going to the ocean, cooking, and gardening. Carl was very devoted to his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He took great pride in his home, and enjoyed fixing things around the house. Carl married Donna Cesario on Aug. 3, 1963, in Great Bend, Penn. Surviving besides his wife, Donna, are: one son and daughter-in-law, Carl, Jr. and Tiffany Musak of Alexandria, Ky.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joann Gustafson of Glenmont, N.Y.; and Linda and Leonard Gerber of Syracuse; eight grandchildren, including Brittany Gustafson, Katherine Gustafson, Andrew Gustafson, Sophia Musak, Olivia Musak, and Carli Musak; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl was predeceased by two brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. Pastor Donna Chapman, of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In his memory, contributions may be made to the Great Swamp Conservancy, Inc., 8375 N.
