Bishopp, 85, formerly of Mount Hope Avenue, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 6, 2017, in the comfort of his son's home after a lengthy illness.John was born in Brooklyn on May 9, 1932. He graduated from high school in the Bronx and located to this area from Rockland County in 1981. He married Louise M. "Daisy" Fynan on June 11, 1960 in the Bronx. They shared a lifelong loving relationship until Daisy died on Dec. 30, 2002.Prior to his retirement, John was employed by the Town of Orangetown in Rockland County where he worked for the Department of Public Works. After retirement, John took a job as a clerk at Price Chopper grocery store in Oneida from 1985-1998, when his wife became ill. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1951-55, a service which he was deeply proud of. John was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and genuinely loved his family.Surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Beth Bishopp of Canastota and Earle and Jessica Bishopp of New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Theresa Bishopp, Dennis Bishopp, Zachary Bishopp, William Bishopp, Jacob Bishopp; one sister, Julia Bradl of Texas; one brother, Franklin Bishopp of Newburgh; one brother-in-law, Richard Fynan of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Rose, Richard and Margaret.Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday.
