ONEIDA >> Louis J. La Balbo, 85, Boston Street, died Sunday afternoon, June 10, 2018, at his residence, following an illness of several months.

Born in Oneida, on Aug. 1, 1932, he was a son of Joseph and Grace Luizzo La Balbo. A resident of Endicott for 30 years, returning to Oneida in 1987, Lou was a graduate of Oneida High School and Alfred State Technical College. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the United States Air Force.Prior to his retirement, Lou was employed, as an engineer, with International Business Machine Corporation (IBM) in the Triple-Cities area. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Lee Renwick, Josephine Monroe, Elizabeth "Bessie" La Balbo and Mary Kaiser and three brothers, Samuel, Benjamin and Joseph La Balbo.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, from St. Joseph's Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment, with full military honors, will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. There are no public hours of visitation, but the funeral service is for friends and family. Contributions, in his memory, may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413.
