Henry Stevens Gillen, 92, of Watkinsville, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017.

A native of Oconee County, Mr. Gillen was a son of the late D.B. Gillen and Clara Ree Miller Gillen. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe and retired from Anaconda Wire and Cable. Mr. Gillen was a member of and deacon at Mars Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gillen was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Syble E. Gillen; daughter, Henrietta Hulsey; a niece of the home, Clara Ree Gillen; brothers, Bill, Sam and Robert Gillen and sisters, Ruby Wilson, Lena Couch and Emma Tittle.

Survivors include daughter, Fredda G. Murray and sister, Mozelle Cowart.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 5 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 5 at 2 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charles Jones officiating.

The family respectfully requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Mars Hill Baptist Church, 2661 Mars Hill Rd., Watkinsville, GA 30677.
