William Harold "Bill" Justice Obituary
Carmel, Ind. - William Harold ÒBillÓ Justice, 84, of Carmel, Ind., passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Bill was born December 21, 1925, in Pittsboro, N.C., to the late Tommy Otis and Daisy Elizabeth Straughan Justice. He was a WWII Army veteran. Bill graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and received his MasterÕs in Animal Virology from North Carolina State University.
Bill began his career in private veterinary practice in Durham, N.C., and retired from Elanco Division of Eli Lilly and Co. in 1990. He was the Mayor of Cary, N.C., from 1961-1962, where he previously served on the town council.
Bill was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities of leadership. He was an active member of the Washington Township Lions Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for Dedicated Humanitarian Services. He was also a member of the Cary Masonic Lodge No. 198, the American Veterinary Medical Association, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Psi National Veterinary Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society for Men and the Gridiron Secret Society, Demosthenian Literary Society and Sphinx of the University of Georgia.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Agnes Carpenter Justice; children, Steven C. (wife, Laurel Siebels) Justice, Christopher S. (wife, Dr. Rose Ong) Justice, Michelle L. Justice-Wright; Lynn OÕKellley (husband, Dr. David) Bangsberg; and grandchildren, William, Calder, Mary Caroline, Anna, Kyle, Logan, Bradley, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Collier, Brooklyn and Madelyn. He was preceded in death by his son, William Harold ÒHalÓ Justice Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Love and Jewel Brooks; and brothers, TC and Claybourne Justice.
Friends and family may call from 4- 8 p.m., Sunday, April 25, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, Carmel, 325 Carmel Drive. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, April 26, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 6450 Allisonville Rd.
Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, Washington Township Lions Club or Partners International, Spokane, Wash., in memory of William H. Justice.
