George Betts Obituary
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Betts was the son of Eloise Dickerson Betts of Hull and the late George Betts Jr. Mr. Betts retired from the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department with the rank of Captain after 20 years of service and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Theresa Betts of Hull; children, Andrea Kay Betts (Roger Lott) of Braselton and Kimberly Dawn McGraw and husband, Michael of Danielsville; brothers, Mark (Rachel) Betts, David (Kathy) and Johnny (Becky) Betts, all of Hull and Jimmy (Melissa) Betts of Watkinsville; sister, Kathy Tate of Nicholson; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Perry Hunnicutt of Madison; brother-in-law, Mark Strickland of Hull; grandchildren, Chase Conwell, Kristen Bannister, Logan and Carson McKissick and Blake and Tanner McGraw; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 17 at the Chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Stuchell officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Weathersbee, Perry Hunnicutt, Bobby Rich, Gary Jeffers, Mike Murray and Mike Anglin. Members of the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
