David Kamerschen Obituary

David Hampton "Kam" Kamerschen passed into his next life unexpectedly on Monday, February 3.
Kam was born on May 12, 1990 in Atlanta to David R. Kamerschen and Gena Hampton. Three years later he was overjoyed to welcome his sister, Caroline Hampton Kamerschen to his family.
Kam attended Duluth Montessori School, Old Peachtree Montessori School, and Holy Innocents Episcopal School where he graduated in 2008.
He enjoyed his time on the soccer and golf teams and as kicker on the HIES football team, kicking the winning field goal to send his school to the state playoffs for the first time in its history. Kam had a smile to light any room. After his freshman year at UGA, he moved to Los Angeles and his beloved Venice Beach.
He attended Santa Monica College and had just enrolled in IPSB Massage School. For the past several years he worked as part of a close-knit team at Xhale Yoga Studio in Venice. Kam suffered from a disease affecting millions but invisible to most.
Throughout his periods of depression and anxiety, he found great solace in spending time with his family and his friends hiking, spending time at the beach, traveling, and sharing laughter.
He gained peace through the spiritual teachings of many, with a profound interest in Buddhism and Yoga.
He is survived by countless grieving friends and family who find the possibility of a future without Kam's bright light impossible to fathom.
In addition to his parents and sister, he is survived by his grandfather, Donald F. Hampton; two brothers Steve Kamerschen (Janie) and Robbie Kamerschen (Becca) and two sisters Chris DuBose (Curtis) and Laurie Head (Murphy); Uncle Robert "Kam" Kamerschen (Judith); Aunts Robyn Kamerschen Kriz, Jackie Hampton Evans (Milt), and Donna Hampton Cornish (Guy); nieces, nephews, and cousins Andrew, Jonathon, Mary Iris, and Melissa DuBose; Emily and Christopher Head; Kendall and Kasey Kamerschen; MaryEliza, Wells, and Ella Kamerschen; Chad and Cameron Muddiman; Jill (Meco), Malik, Mary, and Myleigh Richardson; Becky Evans, Betsy Laski (Ryan) and Olivia Laski, and Bethany Evans.

The funeral is now at 2 p.m on Friday and visitation is 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Friday
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kam's honor to Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (www.didihirsch.org), a Southern California agency which provides mental health care services to the underserved community. It is the family's wish that each person take a moment to consider the millions of people around the world who suffer from this debilitating disease and urge changes in our health care system to provide care.

Dave and Gena and Grand Family: Words cannot truly express the depth of my sympathy for you over the loss of fine young Kam. Your photographs of Kam and your family show Kam's million dollar smile and antics demonstrating a charming personality. He must have been someone everyone liked automatically and wanted to know him. I am so sorry for Kam and the void in your lives. Your national and international vacations along with the family events and fun shown in your photos keep memories alive to be cherished forever.
God Bless You All...

I'm sooo sorry for your loss. I didn't really know Kam but felt like I did from seeing him on FB and knowing from you, Gena, how much you loved him. I wish I could make it all better but just know that you're in my thoughts.

I can not imagine the pain you must now walk through until you see Kam again. Having suffered profoundly from depression myself I know too well the despair that can forever creep back in. I worked 30 years as a therapist helping people with this most terrible disease. I pray that you are able to find some comfort in all the pleasure he has brought you in his life and in knowing the love that continues to surround you. My deepest condolences.

Ken and I loved kicking it with you. From shooting baskets on the driveway to skate boarding to kicking field goals betwen the two tall trees. You scared me when you asked me to help your wire your car stereo, we tucked the power cords under the car trim, hey it worked. Miss you, brothers forever.

Losing a child is a loss no parent should ever have to endure. Hugs, Love, Sympathy, Empathy, and celebration he is safe at home in heaven. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

Ken and I loved kicking it with you in the driveway, shooting baskets, skateboarding and kicking footballs between the trees (field goal style). I was a little scared when you asked me to help you wire your car stereo speakers, tucking the wires under the door trim, but it worked. Brothers forever.
