George "Bud" Delgouffre, age 77, of Fort Lawn, S.C. died Sept. 17, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Mount Vernon, OH on Feb. 6, 1944, the son of George Delgouffre and Phyllis (Porter) VanWinkle.
Bud graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1962. He retired from Boeing in Philadelphia, PA at age 54 and had a long, enjoyable and active retirement in South Carolina. He served as a board member of the Fort Lawn Community Center, the Fort Lawn Fire Protection District and was very involved with the Heart and Soul project of Fort Lawn, S.C. Bud enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, reading, baseball, and entertaining family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Elders) Delgouffre; two sons, Blake (Lauri) Delgouffre of Mount Vernon, OH and Blaine Delgouffre of Mount Vernon, OH; and his canine companion, Skippy.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Delgouffre; a sister, Connie Crawford; and a grandson, Dustin Delgouffre.
In recognition of his volunteer work and dedication, the park at the Fort Lawn Community Center will be named in his honor. The ceremony will take place at the park on Oct. 2, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Community Center immediately afterwards.
A private graveside ceremony will be held in Mount Vernon, OH at a later date.
