James Anderson Obituary

James Andrew "Jim" Anderson

October 21, 1944 - September 25, 2012

Winter Springs, FL

James Andrew "Jim" Anderson, Winter Springs, FL, formerly of Gulfport, MS, passed away September 25, 2012, from the complications of having lived his life to the fullest, surrounded by a loving family and a wealth of good friends. Jim never met a stranger and could draw on a lifetime of rich memories to tell a quick story or joke to suit any occasion.

Jim's activities through the years included Long Beach High School Alumni, USM Alumni Association, Gulfport Yacht Clug, Million dollar Round Table, St Mark's Episcopal Church. He also achieved Scouting's highest award as an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as the commanding officer of a supply boat fleet on the Cua Viet River. After Viet Nam, Jim joined the family business in Gulfport, and eventually entered the insurance business which took him and his family to Central Florida in 1987, and he enjoyed a long and productive career in the insurance and financial service industry.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, E.S. "Andy" and Velma R. Anderson; step-mother Hilton S. Anderson; brother Timothy S. Anderson, all of Gulfport, MS and his father- and mother-in-law, Charles G. and Lucile W. Waggener, of Long Beach, MS. Jim is survived by the love of his life and his wife of 46 years, Trisha Waggener Anderson, Winter Springs, FL; daughters Ashley Anderson (Brian) Bunge, Atlanta, GA and Jamie Anderson, Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Taylor Watkins, Atlanta, GA, who was his favorite companion at the half shell oyster bar. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Mary Linda Anderson Maggard and Margaret "Margie" Anderson Robinson; sister-in-law Jane L. Anderson, all of Gulfport, and sisters-in-law Sherrie Waggener, Santa Barbara, CA and Marsha Waggener (Jim) Boesch of Oviedo, FL, and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday, September 30, from 2-4pm at the home of Jim and Marsha Boesch, 2264 Catbriar Way, Oviedo, FL 32765, with a special celebration of Jim's life at 3pm. A celebration will be held in Gulfport, MS at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of choice, or to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Floarida (www.ocaf.org) or to Safehouse of Seminole County, a domestic violence shelter (www.safehouseofseminole.com).

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Jim worked in my office at Univers and always, always greeted me with a smile and a story. I will miss him dearly as an employee and a friend and will forever be blessed to have known him for as many years as I did. Deepest regards from myself, my family and the entire Univers team in Maitland, Florida

Deepest sympathy to Jim's family. As a Long Beach alumni of 1964, it is sad to say goodbye to another alumni. I remember "Andy" although he graduated in 1961. May you all have wonderful memories to cherish.

I knew Jim from working with him at Univers. I was looking to seeing him again in October. He was a fine man with good values who truly loved his family and his country. I remember when he got Jamie to autograph a picture for my daughter Deanna. Stay strong and stay together during this. May God Bless all of you.

Jim was one of the dearest cousins a girl could have. He was always sweet to me and I loved him dearly for it.
He will be greatly missed by all who were touched by him. Love you, Jim. You're in good company with your folks and mine, Tim, the grandparents and so many more.
Trish, he was such a good man and he adored you.
Hugs to all of you. You're in my heart and prayers.
