Henry "Hank" Chanaud(1928 - 2014)

Chanaud, Henry HankTo our father a beautiful and incredible life remembered, Henry Lewis Chanaud known as Hank was born July 4th, 1928 the eldest son to Henry and Emma Chanaud in Jersey City, NJ . Hank joined the Navy in 1944, serving 25 years before retiring in 1969 as a Commander of the USN. During his military career he served on the Intrepid for several tours during the occupation of Japan and received his Navy Wings in 1948. He received medals for World War II, Korea and a master's degree from Monterey Postgraduate School in mathematics, engineering and computer science. After serving two tours on the Saratoga SSN 59 as a McDonaldF2H2P photo reconnaissance pilot, Hank met his first wife Yvonne Roberts in Pensacola, FL, they had four children together Alan, Robin, Jill and David. Hank's wife Yvonne passed away in 1989 from Breast Cancer, he later married Gail Grosbier. He was a life time blood donor, an entrepreneur, a stock enthusiast, adventurer and world traveler. He is survived by wife Gail Grosbier, Brother Bob, his four children Alan, Robin, Jill, David extended family Karyn, Tom and five beloved grandchildren Melissa, Ryan, Alexandria, Kory, Krissy and eight great-grandchildren. Celebration of Henry's Life will be held at the St John Lutheran Church in Winter Park on Saturday May 10th at 11am. In lieu of flowers please donate to the local , or St John Lutheran Church.
