Hartmeyer, Emily died at home, peacefully, in Altamonte Springs on November 13, 2016. She was born June 28, 1933 in Laurel, MD to Irving Towers and Emma Tyson Towers. She moved to Longwood, FL and attended Winter Park High School and Rollins College. Emily married William Pardue, Jr. and had a daughter, Jane Pardue Hartmeyer, before divorcing. She was a legal secretary in Orlando and with Wilmer Cutler Pickering in Washington, D.C. Emily married her childhood friend and soulmate, William "Bill" J. Hartmeyer, Jr., in 1990, a decade after her daughter and his oldest son married. Emily loved writing, learning, music, traveling, and animals. As a retiree, she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Rollins. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Orlando, American Association of University Women, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her daughter, Jane (John), granddaughters, Jennifer Hartmeyer Campbell (Jeremiah) and Mary Jane Simpson (Michael), great-grandchildren, John and Ada, pets, Jerry and Fenton. A memorial will be held on November 23 at 10 am at First United Methodist Church of Orlando. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Russell Home for Atypical Children in Orlando, FL.
