HARTT, JACKI EWING, 61, passed away at her Orlando, FL home on November 27, 2011. She was born on January 29, 1950, in Morristown, NJ to the late Jack Purdue and Gladys Doris Ewing, and was the older of two siblings. Since 1993, Ms. Hartt was a registered patent agent. Most recently, Ms. Hartt was associated with Gray Robinson, P.A. in Orlando, she previously was associated with Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. in Orlando, and Allen, Dyer, Doppelt, Milbrath & Gilchrist, P.A. in Orlando. From 2009 to 2011, Jacki served as Secretary for the National Association of Patent Practitioners and was a member of the Orlando PEO Sisterhood. Prior to moving to Orlando, Ms. Hartt worked as Acquisitions Editor at Oxford University Press, New York, NY and at Academic Press at Elsevier Group, a publishing company which publishes medical and scientific literature. Jacki was a talented musician and vocalist, and founding member of the choral trio of Stella, the Celtic duo of Heather and Lace and the female vocal ensemble of Bella Canto. She was a past choir member at St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Orlando and St. Albans Anglican Cathedral in Oviedo. Jacki was a self described polymath, whose interests included medieval history, jewelry making, and ancient music. Known for her passion for the color purple and Old English sheepdogs, she hoped to spend her retirement years in Corfe Castle, England, where she visited at least twice yearly. Ms. Hartt earned both B.S. (1971) and PhD (1975) in biophysics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, where she was also a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honorary Society. Jacki is survived by her loving sister, Sue Sedlak, her husband Jon of Foxfire Village, NC; and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. at Robert Bryant Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 321 E. Michigan St., Orlando.
