SPILLER, MARTIN 'MARTY' G., 50 of Taunton, Somerset, United Kingdom, beloved husband of Raelyn (Bennett) Spiller for 23 years died suddenly September 10, 2002 in Ipswich, England. Born in Hartford, CT, August 6, 1952, he was the son of Maxine (Huey) Spiller and the late Harry E. Spiller. He was a former resident of Windsor Locks, and Enfield, CT. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the 84th Combat engineers. He was employed by Lockheed-Martin as a Staff Engineer in a UK facility in Taunton, Somerset, UK. His company recognized him as one of the top 100 employees in 2001. His employment brought him former residences in Orlando, FL, DeRidder, LA and Fresno, CA prior to his assignment in the UK. He was an avid Red Sox fan, an animal lover and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling and was able to tour many of the European countries while residing abroad. His hobby was genealogy, and he established a web-site and was active communicating with hundreds of visitors to the site. He was an active member of the NSSAR (National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution) and a former member of the Smalley Bros. Post #6123-VFW in Windsor Locks. His greatest love was his family and he felt especially blessed in June having seen his only grandson for the first time. Besides his wife, and mother, he leaves two sons, Gregory P. Spiller and his partner, Leslie Wall of Simi Valley, CA; and Eric D. Spiller of Austin, TX; a daughter, Tina E. Cox and her husband, C. Michael Cox of Taunton, UK; three sisters, and their husbands, Linda and Paul Formanek of Suffield, CT; Margaret 'Mickey' and Steven Sabat and Pamela and Michael Agey of Windsor Locks, CT; a grandson, Adam Spiller of Simi Valley, CA; his mother and father-in-law, Francis and Jeanette Bennett of Enfield, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Marty was a loving and compassionate and giving man who also leaves behind countless friends and co-workers, who will miss him dearly. Besides his father, Harry Spiller, he was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Lisa Cocchi and a nephew, Patrick Formanek. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Saturday at 10AM at the Congregational Church of Windsor Locks 8 Main St., Windsor Locks, CT where funeral services will be held with the Rev. Kevin Flannery officiating. Interment will be in Grove cemetery with military honors. His family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. Memorial donations in Marty's name are suggested to the Make a Wish Foundation 940 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT 06611.
