Donald Stewart Notice
Stewart, Donald age 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He spent his childhood in Uniontown, Pennsylvania leaving in 1941 to join the U. S. Marine Corp. He spent World War II in the Pacific, which included 12 weeks of fighting in the Battle of Okinawa, as a member of the "Striking" 6th Marine Division. After the war he graduated from the College of the Pacific in Stockton, California with an AA in Business Administration. Then he joined the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and served in the Berlin airlift. He retired from the military in 1963 and moved to Orlando, Florida with his wife, Lillian, and three children. He worked for the State of Florida as an Unemployment Insurance Compensation Auditor until he retired in 1986. His is survived by his wife, Lillian Stewart, of 58 years of marriage and his three children: Jill Champion of Wetumpka, Alabama, David Stewart of Orlando, Florida and Patrick Stewart of Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rubye and Donald Stewart, his brother, Buddy Stewart and his son-in-law, Alan Champion. He was a good man who loved life and his family. He will be greatly missed. Please do not send any flowers instead send donations to First Baptist Downtown, Orlando, Florida.
