Raymond Bodiford Obituary

Raymond Bodiford died on the morning of May 18, 2018 in his own home with his family. He was born in Miami, Florida and was raised in Kendall. From a very young age he was interested in politics. In the 1968 student election he passionately supported Robert F. Kennedy. He never lost a love for justice and always knew that he wanted to become a lawyer. He loved British and American history, rock music such as The Beatles, Elton John, and The Rolling Stones, and football, especially the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Gators. He graduated from the University of Miami in Political Science and earned his law degree at the University of Florida. He had fond memories of his time in graduate school. He worked first for the Public Defender in Key West. Then he moved to Orlando and worked for Sam Murrell. It was at the Orange County Public Library in downtown Orlando that he met his future wife Heather, who was working as a librarian. They wedded in October of 1990. In 1991, they had their first son Andrew. Then, in 1996 their second son Brett was born. Raymond always loved to travel and frequently visited Lake Tahoe. He also traveled often to Europe and Costa Rica. Raymond practiced law for over 35 years and would eventually open his own law firm, The Bodiford Law Group, in downtown Orlando. His career was his pride and joy and his work improved the lives of countless people. Raymond Bodiford gained a reputation of serving his clients first and always working for the greater good. He is survived by his wife Heather and his two sons Andrew and Brett, who are 26 and 22. He is also survived by cousins Becky, Bobby, and Michael Granato, and Vicki Wolin. His son Andrew is now studying Law and his son Brett is studying History in college. Raymond Bodiford's funeral service will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando on May 25 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, Ray's family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Ray's memory.

I just found out about Ray's passing and I would like to express my sincerest condolences to his family. Ray was a great lawyer and I saw him brilliantly argue in Court numerous times. He was truly a great lawyer who genuinely cared about his clients. He will be truly missed.

Dear Heather, Brett and Andy: I am deeply distressed to learn that "Buffet Ray" is gone. He was one of my dearest friends my entire adult life, and I am just sooo sorry the three of you must now grieve losing him in your own lives. May God bless and keep you, one and all, always and all ways...

To Andy: I know your daddy would be sooo proud to see you following in his footsteps! He was one of the kindest people I have ever known, and to see you sharing his sense of justice and clearly knowing right from wrong would simply delight him no end! I wish you all success in your bright legal career!

To Brett and Andy: I know he was your dad (and the greatest dad to boot), for which you are blessed! But first and foremost, I think he was the best friend you boys and your mama likely ever COULD have, too! I hope that, in and of itself, will bring you comfort when you need it the most.

To Heather: I am so, so very sorry, Heath-, that I did not learn of Buff's passing before today. Please know that my hopes, thoughts and prayers will continue that you and your family find what solace is afforded to any of us who suffer the tragic loss of their best friend. He adored you, Girlfriend... and I believe that is the highest honor he could extend to anyone... and he gave it to you freely and loved you wholeheartedly, without reservation!
God bless you all, and my deepest, most sincere condolences for your losses... )-;

Love,
"Din-Din Bren"

compassionate, caring, and kind man. As our attorney he help us through a very difficult time in the loss of our son. He was our rock and our angel and I will forever feel

I met Ray the first week at UM, and we roomed together for two years of law school. He was so bright, but even more important Ray had a strong sense of justice. Even though Ray could be very serious, he had a great sense of humor. I know that the Dolphins and Canes lost a great fan, and we all lost a special person. My condolences to his family.
