Alna Carl "A.C." Tackett, age 57, passed away on October 29, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on July 25, 1963 in Jackson, Mississippi to Torreon "Shorty" and Geraldine "Gerrie" (Melton) Tackett. In 1966, St. Cloud, Florida became A.C.'s forever home at age 3. In 1981, A.C. became a proud graduate of St. Cloud High School. After graduation from high school, he attended the University of Central Florida and had an esteemed career as a registered land surveyor. A.C. was known for his work ethic and his dedication to Phillips and Jordan, Inc. for 19 years.
A.C. and Karma (Ketchersid) Tackett got married in 1991 at the courthouse in Kissimmee, Florida. They enjoyed one another's friendship, camaraderie, and love for almost 29 years. A.C. and Karma enjoyed taking long rides together on country roads. They built a beautiful family together and A.C. is survived by Karma.
A.C. is survived by his son, Matthew Carl Barker, and two daughters, Wren Ann and Claire Jaye Tackett. He is also survived by his parents, Shorty and Gerrie, and his siblings, Jeffrey Carter Asher and Kim (Willard) Asher Beekman. He is survived and loved by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. A.C. was well-loved by many close friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Eugenia "Genia" Carole Asher. He is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alna and Dexter Tackett, and his maternal grandparents, Carl and Marie Melton.
The family and friends of A.C. celebrate his love for people, his zeal for justice, his sense of humor, and his intellect. He was an avid University of Florida Gators fan and a dog-lover. He spoke truthfully, brought laughter to any gathering he was a part of, and offered loyalty to those he loved.
Family and friends celebrated the life of A.C. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11 a.m.
The service was held at Heartcry Chapel, 5225 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, St. Cloud, FL 34771.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to Prostate Cancer Foundation at pcf.org.
