Mary Elizabeth Foran, a resident of Hale since 1977, formerly of Detroit, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital, age 82 years.
Mary was born on Dec. 3, 1938 in Salem, Ky. to James E. and Mildred L. (Duvall) Simpkins. She graduated from Cody High School in Detroit. Mary absolutely adored and cherished her children, grandchildren and family. Spending time together was her very favorite!
Mary enjoyed going to casinos and traveling with her family all over. She was a long time member of the Hale Eagles. Mary will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her husband and best friend, James F. Foran, to whom she married on Sept. 14, 1957. The couple have celebrated 63 beautiful years of marriage together! Mary is also survived by her three children, Debra Dickinson of Brighton, Cheri and Jeff Short of Hale and Michael and Nancy Foran of Georgia; grandchildren, Brandon (Jacqueline) Dickinson, Ryan Dickinson, Patrick and Shannon Short, Joshua, Justin, Jacob and Alexandra Foran; three step great grandchildren; one sister, Norma (Brad) Angus of Hale; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Mary was preceded in death by a son, Daniel J. Foran; her parents, James and Mildred Simpkins; four brothers and one sister.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial are encouraged to consider a donation to The Special Olympics in honor of her son, Daniel. So sad to hear of Mary's passing. Mary & James are old family friends to the Rabie family. I can't remember at time that Mary never made laugh. Had a lot great memories. Mary will be missed by many.
