JOHNSON, Irene Elizabeth "Babs"
Passed away peacefully on September 26, 2014 in Ajijic, Mexico. Irene was born March 5, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was a graduate of the London School of Economics. A trailblazer for female civil servants, Irene served in Canadian Public Service and Diplomatic positions as Commissioner of the Public Service of Canada, Director General of Manpower Training for the Department of Manpower and Immigration, High Commissioner to New Zealand and as well as Canada's Consul General in Philadelphia. Babs leaves behind her son Blaine, grandchildren Lisa Marie and Bianca, sister Madeline (Mimi), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Dona Marie. There will be no service; donations in her memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
