It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, William (Bill) Sinclair, 87 years of age, of Halifax born in the farming community of Goshen Guysborough Co. Nova Scotia, on June 27, 2015 at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital, QEII. After graduating from Dalhousie University, Halifax in 1954 Bill and his loving wife Jean moved their young family to Ottawa (Bells Corners) where Bill joined the Federal government. In 1973, Bill transferred into Canada's Foreign Service where he began a long and successful career as a Canadian diplomat with senior postings in London, Hong Kong and Georgetown Guyana, where he served honorably as Canada's Ambassador.
Proud of country, his Scottish heritage, and family he was a valued leader in the Sinclair Clan Association of Canada, serving on its Executive including several years as its President.
Bill is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Jean Patricia Sinclair, his parents John and Nellie, brothers Andrew, Harold(Mina) and sister Jesse. He is survived by his brother Jack(Gladys) and many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by sons Scott (Aud-Inger) Halifax, Ian(Alison), Toronto and Robert(Cynthia),Hong Kong, grandchildren Elise, Tomas, Sebastian, Nathaniel, and Rosslyn and great-grand daughter, Ruby.
Through his work and travels he has touched many lives and garnered many dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service and celebration of the life of William Sinclair will be held at the Bethany United Church, Clinton Street, in Halifax on Saturday, July 18th at 11am. Burial will be at the Goshen Cemetery, Guysborough County on Sunday, July 19th.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
