You and your family are in my thoughts. May your happy memories help you through this time of sadness

My mother spent the last of her 4 years as a resident of Extendicare Starwood; our family was blessed that Mom welcomed her new 2nd. home. She was loved by the caregivers and many family members. We said our final goodbye to her Jan. 19, 2012. IN those years we were warmed by the love shared between Vera and Brian. They looked for each other at every turn of their heads. I am the bartender at Social Hour every Tuesday and the strength I saw in this man Brian was only overshadowed by his wit and humour. So very sorry I missed his obit in the paper, I would have been honored to have attended his send off to a place of no pain, no suffering and his special spot at the entrance awaiting those he loved. Our prayers are with the family and friends, and since we are in Florida, and not able to attend Brian's Celebration of Life, we will be praying for you all here.

I met Brian and Vera (although I have known them longer as Mr. & Mrs. Monaghan) when I was 10 years old as that is the time I became friends with their daughter Sheila. From the moment I entered their home, you could feel the love and warmth that resonated from every corner. From childhood to young adulthood, many fun and special memories were made there. Brian, with the infamous twinkle in his eye was a big part of that. He also took pure enjoyment in teasing this Italian girl! Brian lived life to the fullest and his legacy will no doubt live on in his children and grandchildren.
What inspires me most about this dear man was the unconditional love and passion he has for his lovely wife Vera. I have never witnessed anything as special as the love they shared for one another.
Our deepest condolences to the Monaghan family for the loss of your beloved husband, father and grandfather. May God bless you all during this very difficult time.
With love and affection.
Dora

We are deeply saddened to read about Brian's passing and sympathies are offered to the Monaghan family. We remember the many contributions that Brian and Vera gave to the Ottawa Cursillo Movement over the years. Brian was a dedicated and committed servant for Christ....may he be granted a special place in God's kingdom.
As we are away, we will be unable to take part in the funeral service. Our thoughts and prayers will be focused on Brian and family at that time.
Blessings to all...
