Hi Doreen,

My condolences to you and all of your family with Ed's passing.

For many years, the Rubber Boot Net was the start of my day as I headed to work. If Ed wasn't Net Control he was always one of the first to check in. For me, and I am sure for many others, he was the first person we talked to each morning!

Those exchanges were interesting and always enjoyable and I often think about them.

The Pot Lid Net, the OVMRC, the QCW, and checking in to countless Nets ... I know both of you have made a huge contribution to Amateur Radio and all of the values it represents, and have the respect and appreciation of many hams.

I consider myself lucky to have known Ed, and to know you.

Hello Doreen, I remember you and Ed well from many years ago. I worked for him as a term employee at CFB Ottawa North. He organized such great wine and cheese parties and was indeed the life of the party. I learned much from him most including his love of jazz. Many a pint was raised at The Hole in the Wall pub on Metcalfe Street. My sincerest condolences.

Dear Doreen and children and grandchildren of Ed,
I am so very sad for your great loss...and mine. I had the great pleasure of meeting Ed and Doreen sixteen years ago. I was a shivering Floridian attending Winterlude and an Amateur Radio dinner with Frank Stratton in the Great White North. I have treasured their friendship ever since. Their humor, brilliance, kindness, and openness have inspired me. Sadly, I cannot attend Ed's parting events in body, but I will most certainly be there in spirit. Sending you much love, hugs, and healing.

Doreen & family,
I will miss this fine man. He was kind & polite, someone I always looked up to for his wisdom, sharp wit, humour, and life long experience as a professional radio operator. He was fun to talk to, told great stories, loved jazz. Whenever I knew he was in attendance at any social function, I would always make a point to seek him out to chat, laugh with & 'kid' him. He was important to me. Ed, thank you for your long service to Canada & God Bless you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Doreen and family. I well remember Ed's words of encouragement when I announced I would like to become a "ham", a term he hated. You're an engineer, he said, and therefore too stupid to learn the code. But with his help, I did. Russ (VE3FSN/VE3YOW)& Lynn
