Jack and I spent many hours in the cockpit together as I worked on private and commercial pilot licences.... He was my mentor, teacher and friend. We shared passion for flying, investigations and music. Jack was a gentleman and a multi-dimensional man. I mean miss our visits and his wonderful sense of humour. So many memories. Travel well old friend.

Jack was my friend and my teacher.
I learned to fly with Jack and now I am in the final years of my career at Air canada, flying as a captain on the 767.
I dropped by many times to see jack as the years went by, I will miss him but I will never forget him.
Rest in peace my friend.

I met Jack Cook when I first started to fly, almost 34 years ago when I was 45. He took me under his wing, so to speak, and helped me become at one with the aircraft; later, Jack tutored me for both the Commercial Pilot Licence and the Instructor rating. He himself was a Senior Commercial Pilot with encyclopedic experience. He was my mentor. I owe much to him. I am a sometime musician and have played his beautiful grand piano. I was delighted when attending his concerts upstairs, above his Canada's Four Corners store in downtown Ottawa, and was so happy for him in his promotion of First Nations, Inuit and Canadian crafts. Knowing Jack was more than a privilege; it was an honour.

My wife and I met Jack at the Orpheus Choral Group only about 12 years ago.
We also had the pleasure of visiting him and touring his store. He was a special person.

I was saddened to hear of Jack's passing. I remember Jack over the years as being a faithful and enthusiastic supporter of ORMTA. He was an inspiration to students and fellow teachers alike.

What a wonderful, exciting, interesting life you led, Jack. I remember concerts held in your Concert Hall abiove the Four Corners' store. You were always a gracious, gallant host, loved by all musicians who knew you. Ottawa will be a little less vibrant musically, with your passing.

I worked with Jack at a flight school where we both instructed - he was well respected and well liked. Later on I discovered he was also an excellent singer. Jack was a true gentleman.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of my wonderful friend and former vocal coach when I graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music. I always looked forward to his Christmas card and letter with a picture included. I always admired his energy in taking dancing lessons and working all of these things into his programs. I have a copy of the DVD he made a few years ago so will take that out, view it and think oh so fondly of him. What a dear soul he was!

So sorry to learn of Jack's passing-- the vocal music community will miss him as well as his friends at the Ontario Registered Music teachers' Association-- a group that he was a member of for sixty years. Always a generous contributor to the scholarship fund and ORMTA special projects, his generous nature will be missed. Condolences to all his friends and relations.

past president of ORMTA Ottawa Region Branch
