LAW, William A.H. (Bill) Retired Lt. Col. 1913-2004 Passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4th, 2004, at the Perley Veterans Health Centre, with his wife Norah (Slievert-White) by his side. Loving father of Maureen (the late Dick Weiler), Andy (Perdita), Kathleen (Stuart Harrower), Brian (Cheryl) and stepdaughters Carla (Gary Saunders) and Linda (Ron Van Schyndel). Proud Grandfather of twelve and great Grandfather of seven. Predeceased by his parents George and Mary Ann (Dalziel), first wife Norah Welsh, brothers Andy (Marge), George (Isobel) and sisters Margaret (Alf Philp) and Zina (Ted Morrison). He will be sadly missed by all, including Lorraine Albert and his "Wee Chick". Bill joined the army in 1933 as a Trouper in Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians). During the war Bill served in Canada, Europe, Middle East, India and Burma. He returned to Canada in 1945 and after several postings throughout Canada retired in 1963. After retirement from the military, Bill was Executive Director of the Retarded Children's Association in Ottawa. He also was a Sessional Instructor at Algonquin College, lecturing on Early Childhood Development. Bill also served as a Controller/Alderman/Councilor with the city of Ottawa and a Trustee with the Ottawa Board of Education. His final retirement was in 1983. Many thanks to Dr. Tobin and the kind, supportive and caring staff of Gatineau 2 North, PRVHC. Friends may pay their respects at Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road at Greenbank) Wednesday, September 8th, 2004 from 2:00 pm-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held in the Pinecrest Rememberance Chapel on Thursday, September 9th, 2004 at 11:00 am. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre would be appreciated by the family.
