Again like others on this board I used to work close by to the deli and would frequently enjoy my 'usual' chicken sub that was always made with a smile and happily served by Josie. I havent worked close by to that location in almost two years but this morning when I heard the recast segment on CBC radio I was almost brought to tears and especially to hear the deli has now closed. My thoughts are with you Josie!

Dear Josie, Gary and Steve
I was deeply saddened to receive a phone call from Mike telling me that George had passed away. Mike has known George for over 30 years and has told me so many wonderful stories about him. Mike loves him like a father and is missing him terribly. I have only had the pleasure of knowing George for one year, I wish it had been longer. In that year I have gotten to see what a wonderful man he was, going out of his way to make everyone feel comfortable. He was a kind and honourable man, with a quick wit and amazing sense of humour, they don't make men like him anymore. There is nothing I can say that will take the pain away, he touched many lives and will be missed by all. George will live on in your heart and memories, may you take some consolation in knowing that he will continue to watch over you and be with you in spirit.
God be with you

Dear Josie and her family, I was so saddened to hear of George's passing. Even though I had not seen him in many years, I often thought of him and Josie, they were the nicest people I ever knew. I worked at 222 Nepean over 30 years ago and used to go to The Friendly Corner for break and lunches. The store was aptly named, The Friendly Corner, they were so friendly and joking all the time. I know George will be terribly missed by many people but I am sure he will never be forgotten, he will be in the hearts of many many people. Josie my prayers are with you and may God help you in this time of need. Just know that George will always always be with you. love Gail Laflamme (Papineau)
