BEAUCHAMP, Robert
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved hero Bob, Bobby, Pataw and Grandpa on Christmas day, 2012 from Aylmer, Quebec. He was born September 9, 1949. He leaves behind his much loved wife Sharon, of 43 years, his loving children, daughter Kimberley (Brian McCoshen), his sons, Christopher (Johanne Gervais) and Patrick (Isabelle Carle) and his special grand-babies, Austin, Matthew, Alyssa, Joshua, Emma, Samuel and Zakary. He's also survived by his sisters Loretta Dagenais, Diane Ethier, his special sister Carol Rawlins and his brother, Robert Lavergne. He will also be sadly missed by the Minifie family. Family will receive condolences at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Sunday December 30, 2012, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Most sincere, if somewhat belated, condolescences to the Beauchamp family. I was so sad to only recently read of the sudden loss of 'young' Robert, as he was known to me when he was a teenager. At that time, I was married to his brother Bob & we all lived at Beechwood in those days when he was going to Assumption high school.
Robert was a really lovely young man during the time I knew him & although we lost touch after Bob & I divorced, I have been extremely touched to read about the happy, full life he grew up to have with a family of his own, many caring friends, a fulfilling career & colleagues who respected & admired him.
May all of your memories keep him in your hearts forever & may he rest peacefully in God's eternal love.

I first met Bob and Seamus at the 1987 National Component Convention. I suspect Bob is speaking with Seamus right now. As an advocate for Health & Safety who tirelessly tried to improve working life for all members and especially those on 'the Hill', Bob will be remembered as a rare Champion of a great cause - and well he should. When H&S comes to 'The Hill' the way Bob envisioned, his name should be mentioned in whatever speech will be given by PSAC Leaders at that moment. God be with you Bob. Heather Brooker

To the family,
Mes plus sincères condoléances. I was fortunate to know Bob via our Union NC at the time. He was a great mentor to me. When he left the NC, a part of me left with him. As in his picture here, he always had a warm smile which was so comforting as so were his kinds words. Thank you Bob for being in my life. RIP, Anne-Marie /Local 70172

I knew Bob as a Union activist, a good man who was a champion for workers rights. Bob had a unique talent for cutting through the politics (Union or Employer) to get at the heart of the matter. He did so in a manner that brought people together, it is this I remember most about Bob.

My sincere condolences to the family in this time of grief.

To Sharon and the Family of Bob
I want to share a wonderful memory that I have of Bob.... we were at the Health and Safety Conference in Halifax NS .... everyone was scrambling around the harbour on the few hours that we had before leaving .... we met Bob on the street and asked what he was holding in his hands ... it was a beautiful cut glass ornament that he had found to give to his wife ... and the smile that Bob had on his face when he showed us his "find" showed the love that he had for his partner ..... Sharon !!!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I remember Bob as a good friend way back when we were in school together at Assumption elementary in then Eastview. We were both hockey crazy and used to play on the White Fathers rink until well after dark. He was Gordie Howe and I was Bobby Hull. Needless to say he was a much better hockey player than I.

Sincerly, Tom Tierney

The sounds of construction, not unlike the ones coming from our own home just next door, his friendly neighbourly chats, or the wave of his hand with a smile on his face when leaving or arriving in the driveway...he will be missed by us all. Very sorry for your loss!

It was with much sadness that I learned of Bob's passing. My deepest condolences to his family. Although I knew him only for the past 7 years I was very happy to call him friend. He made an impression on my with his strength of conviction and his work for Health and safety not just for the "Hill" but for all workers. He will be missed.

I went to elementary school (Assumption)over 50 years ago in what was then Eastview (now Vanier) with Robert. I really enjoyed his company. He had a vivid imagination and was then a huge fan of the 'Untouchables' TV show. He'd always ask each of us whether we saw the show and even if we had, he'd proceed to relive every vivid detail of the show. He had his own distinct personality which you would never forget.

My sympathies to the family!

My sympathies to Robert's family. I came across the obituary in Saturday's Citizen and remembered Robert as we knew him from primary school days at Assumption School in Eastview (Vanier) and playing with Robert in his tree house at Beechwood. I also remember us being Detroit Red Wing fans, way back. Again, condolences to Robert's family and just a thought that I remembered him from so many years ago.

A dear friend has passed away leaving with each of us unforgettable memories, as a friend he was there each and every time you needed him, as a union activist he helped pave the way for positive change and touched upon many hearts, for this he earned the love and respect of many across Canada, you could not ask for a kinder man!

I will personaly miss my dear friend and as the tears pass I shall rely on the many amazing memories Bob has blessed me with over the years, his smile will never fade, his humour will guide me from day to day, his never ending strength will be the root too which I draw upon as I reflect back on our long and loving friendship.

Goodbye my dear friend you will never be forgotten!!
with love Richard.

This news was shocking to everyone, my deepest sympathies to the Beauchamp family. I had the privilage to grow up as best friends with Patrick the youngest son of Bob and Sharon. Their house always had something going on, 5 dogs, construction, us boys having wrestling matches in the pit, (basement, chris`s room). I remember so many christmas`s after my own home going straight to the Beauchamps for a second meal, they were always welcoming me with open arms. I ask the question,`Why at Christmas`, this family thrived at Christmas, I was always amazed of the little village that Sharon would masterfully craft, and the loads of presents under the tree, yet now, today the Beauchamps are to put their holiday cheer aside not for their children but for themselves and unite together in this sadden time for beloved Bob. My most memerable times on a lighter note, everytime Bob took the dogs, candy, cj and bud for a walk it was hilarious because the dogs were all tangled and I really believe the were taking him for a walk, I guess Bobs having one of those walks now. I will miss him.

We are so sad for the sudden loss of Uncle Robert and we wish to express to you our most sincere condolescences to Aunt Sharon, Kim, Chris, Pat and to all your family. When I phoned Kelly to tell her of the sudden passing of Uncle Robert, she was so shocked and saddened by the news. I remember myself when I was very young at Christmas time at the house in Beechwood, watching the older cousins and Robert playing table hockey and with his train set and being impressed by the guys. Because Robert was the youngest of my mother's siblings he was much loved and pampered. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his special sister Carol, my mother Loretta, Diane and Bob and all the nieces and nephews.
Diane, Michel and Kelly Therien.
