Brent DARBYSON Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Sep. 1, 2015.
DARBYSON, Brent Kelsey (a.k.a. "Darby")
1969 - 2015
Teacher at Earl of March High School,
Owner of Top Shelf Sports Photography
Passed away unexpectedly as a result of a tragic accident while vacationing in Roatan, Honduras, on August 19, 2015 at the age of 45. Cherished partner of Debbie Vincent. Friend and former husband of Shari Jones. Doting, inspiring and unreservedly loving father of Kathleen and Leah. Devoted son of June and Roger Darbyson. Supportive and loving father figure to Kaitlyn and Adysan and caring grandpa to Cayden. Beloved brother to Brad and Bonnie. Brent will also be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and his many, many friends whose lives he touched through his unassuming, unselfish and warmhearted personality. Brent was an engaging teacher who shared his enthusiasm for both the subject matter and for his students. He was an exceptionally talented, passionate and gifted professional photographer who saw extraordinary beauty in every day occurrences. He was an eccentric Tragically Hip fan, an avid golfer and a fanatically loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan (time to bring home the Cup, boys). But most of all he was a patient, dedicated and extremely proud dad who loved his girls more than anything in the world. They will always be his "best friends forever". Family and friends are invited to pay their respect after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at
Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery
3700 Prince of Wales Dr.
613-692-1211
In honour of Brent, dress is casual. A Celebration of Brent's life will follow at 3:00p.m. in the chapel for family and close friends who are then invited to the Carleton Lounge after the service until 6:00p.m., to continue celebrating Brent's life. Memorial donations to Free the Children/We Day (a charity very dear to Brent's heart) are very much appreciated. Condolences and Sharing Memories at

I was just devastated to hear the news. My condolences to the entire extended family. Brent and I share Ringette and Photography; I was looking forward to seeing him in the rinks again this year as we have for a while. Deepest sympathies.

A great loss to the Earl of March community. Mr Darbyson was an admired teacher to both my sons and the father to one of my husband's students. My most sincere sympathy to family and friends

Brent:
You will be truly missed in so many ways and places. On the golf course, in Lake Placid, at hockey pool meetings. It just seems so surreal that you won't be around for any of them. Safe journeys, my friend. To your family, I am so very sorry for your loss.
