LAIDLER, Alfred James RCAF Wing Commander (retired) May 15, 1921 - November 11, 2017 After a life well lived, Alfred passed away at age 96. Alfred was predeceased by his wife Joan of 70 years, and their infant son James; along with Alf's parents John Laidler and Alexandra Wainwright, and siblings Audrey Wilson, Catherine Barr, and George, Robert and Douglas Laidler. Loving father and grandfather, Alf was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed by all of his children and their spouses: Chris (Cindy); Susan Wilson; Timothy (Manon); Maureen Bellgard; Pamela (Karen); grandchildren Gita (Vladimir), Chantelle, Colin (Michelle), Alexandra, Katerine, Jodie (Dane), Chris, Lisa; and great-grandchildren Nova, Milan, Brooke and Scott. Alfred had a long and interesting career in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1939 to 1971, and then the Public Service of Canada to 1980. A very big thank you for the care and support provided by the Park Place Retirement Residence team since 2011, and more recently by At Home Hospice and Veterans Affairs Canada. A celebration of Alfred's life will take place Saturday, November 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.
