MIDLAND - Fredrick Joseph Hammond, 83, of Midland passed away Thursday (August 30, 2018) at home following a long illness.

Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday September 7 at Pentecostal Temple 5303 N. Jefferson Avenue in Midland. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. and a service will commence at 7 p.m.

Fred was born on December 27, 1934 in Flint Michigan a son of Raymond and Minnie Hammond and is survived by his loving wife Audrey Hammond (Kerns) of 40 years, sisters, Betty Sessions, Etta Sullivan, Mable Knight, son Fredrick Hammond II and his wife Luanne, eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by children, Christine, Kathy and Scott, his parents Raymond and Minnie and five brothers and two sisters.

Fred served in the Air Force during the years 1954-1959 and provided for his family in many ways over the years with the most recent being Robinsons Tree Services. Fred was caregiver to three grandchildren Krista, Cody and Jeremy for many years. He enjoyed volunteering for Senior Services delivering meals as well as supplying friends and family with his famous peanut brittle during the holidays.

Fred will be greatly missed and we will forever remember his sense of humor and handsome smile.
