I grew up going to every Johnny Bush show in Texas I could make. It was the days of the big dancehalls in rural Texas communities and Johnny played them all. Every song reminds me of a time in my life. Thank you Johnny for all the fun I had listening and dancing and romancing to your music.

I`m so sorry for the family`s loss. I`ve heard Johnny sing, and he is actually one of the awesome guys who inspired me to write country music. I used to smile REALLY BIG when I`d hear a song come on of his on Willie's Roadhouse!! He was a hell of a songwriter, hell of a singer, and hell of a guy, who will make Heaven's Band sound even better than it already does. Rest in peace, my friend, and to the family, my heart, and my prayers are with you.

What a great loss this is to Country Music. I have been a fan for 50 plus years and met him on a couple of occasions as well as dancing to shows in the Houston area. Whiskey River is a permanent part of my life and would love to share a short story about it. I love going to visit Garner State Park in the Texas Hill County and have been there many, many times in my 61 years. I have danced countless hundreds of times to Whiskey River under the old oak tree at the pavilion in the park and the song has been there as long as I can remember, and that takes me back to a very happy place in my life. He was a very talented man who produced very good music. May God bless your family and comfort you through this loss.

I first danced to Johnny Bush as a teenager at The Stagecoach Inn at Stamford, Texas. I´m 65 now and my wife and I have gone to his dances every chance we got. Curtis and Dot Caffey owned The Stagecoach and Johnny played there many times. I met my wife there and Johnny might be partly responsible for us getting married. Curtis and Dot became my in-laws. My favorite dance music and my wife is a wonderful dancer. Praying for his family. Rest In Peace

Our friendship began in the early 1950's when you became a member if the family. You were just starting in the business and although you were good then, you just kept getting better and you will be remembered as one of the best singer/song writers in the business. We loved you then and we love you now and you will be greatly missed not only by us but by millions of fans! Apparently God needed a great singer and entertainer so he called on the best! Our prayers and condolences go out to Lynda, Gaye Lynn and all of the family. Doug & Evelyn Tosh

I stop and ask others to listen when Johnny Bush sings. Enjoyed him from the 1960s when this Southern Colorado boy danced to Texas music. Got to dance with Johnny and the band in his Houston ballroom. Taught my 6 year old granddaughter to love him and the 4 note base riff that ends many phrases of the band's songs. I will miss him and was stunned to learn of the loss. RIP.

Pretty much grew up loving all things "pure country" as a youngster growing up in San Antonio. Johnny Bush epitomized that genre of country music. One of his early albums that contained Whiskey River was titled There Stands the Glass..... probably the best ever compilation of traditional Texas dance hall music. RIP amigo.

Saw Mr. Johnny at Willie's Place in Hillsboro Texas when "Willie Nelson" had his place. So great to see him & Willie perform at different times. They are the "great country music" artists, the way the music should still be the wonderful country music. So very sorry hear about this wonderful man. God Bless all his "great friends and family in the "real country music". He will certainly be missed by all that "loved him" dearly.

I have loved Johnny's music for many years. Then in the '90 I moved to San Antonio and really got to know him as a kind and gentle Man. I sat a couple rows behind him most every Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church. Had BBQ and many tacos with him over the years. Sad time for all who like Texas style music - that WAS Johnny Bush.
