Lillian M. Tolly, 79, of Hope, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She was born on Nov. 2, 1934, in Midland, to the late John A. and Flossie J. (Myers) Whitmer. She was married to Milton C. Tolly on Jan. 12, 1952, who preceded her in death April 23, 2011.

Lillian was a homemaker and a clerk at the Community Drug Store. She was an actively involved member at Hope Baptist Church, where she was also the church janitor for over 30 years. Lillian loved knitting, quilting, crocheting and was a great cook.

Lillian is survived by her son, John (Kathy) Tolly; and daughters, Bethany (Paul) McCurley, Janet (Ted) Herner, Dawn (Tye) Rausch, Marla (Matthew) Hanna and Paula Tolly. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel (Claudia) Whitmer; sister, Barbara (James) Andrist; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Whitmer and Olan Whitmer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Hope Baptist Church, with Pastor Neil Wiggins officiating. Visitation will be at Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 4-7 p.m., and Friday at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

I am sorry for your temporary loss as I understand my Mother's joy at reuniting with her best (female) friend. I will never forget and think often about Lillian and Milton's loving, acceptance and encouragement of me. A real picture of our savior.
