SALEM, Va. - Vernon B. Ellison, 67, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at his home in Salem, Va.

He was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Richmond to Harry and Florence Ellison and moved to Salem, Va., around 30 years ago.

He was an U.S. Army veteran.

He held several jobs as a truck driver and retired as a heating and cooling specialist.

He had a great love for music, playing guitar and singing in local bands.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Salem; two daughters, Sandy (Jerry) Gall of Lynchburg, Ohio, Tina Lawwill of Seaman, Ohio; son, Vernon B. Ellison of Lynchburg, Ohio; five grandchildren, three great- grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Karen) Ellison of Richmond; sister, Dianna (David) Adams of Richmond.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Hamilton.

His burial was Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in Salem, Va. A special memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Richmond with Pastor Matt Buckland officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the church.
