Candice Flaugher Obituary
Richmond - Dr. Candice Beth Flaugher D.O.,age 46, passed away on May 9, 2018 following complications from a horrific car accident on April 23, 2018. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 15, 1971. She is survived by her parents James and Elaine Flaugher of Dayton, Ohio; paternal grandmother Marthalee Flaugher currently of Englewood, Ohio; her sisters Catherine Ackerman (Christopher) of Richmond Indiana and Christina Flaugher of Dayton, Ohio; niece Caitlin Ackerman of West Carrollton, Ohio; and nephew Daniel Ackerman of Fort Wayne Indiana. Candice was a 1989 graduate of Wayne High School. She Graduated from Wright State University in 1994 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Environmental Health Sciences. She received her Master of Science in Toxicology from Rochester University in New York and graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. Candice completed her residency in Toledo and a fellowship in rheumatology in Fort Worth, Texas in 2009. Dr. Flaugher was employed at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana and had clinics in Winchester and Connersville, Indiana as well as Greenville and Huber Heights, Ohio. Candice loved her cats and dog and enjoyed exploring the world on her frequent cruises. She cherished her patients, her coworkers, her staff and her friends. Her infectious smile and generous spirit will be missed by all. Visitation will be held on Monday, (May 14, 2018) from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Assembly of God (2339 West Cart Road, Richmond, Indiana 47374). Funeral service will also be held at Lighthouse Assembly of God at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (May 15, 2018) with Pastor Ralph Holdeman officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date..

I just found out about your passing. I went to look up your number because I remembered what a remarkable doctor of great intelligence you are. You could tell your passion for any patient. I just found out today I was a patient of Dr. Candice as she introduced herself to me when we met 6 years ago. One of the best people, doctors, I have ever gone to I am going to miss her so much she helped me personally so very much. She was my doctor and friend for many years and i looked forward to seeing her at my appointments. She was a delight. I have a ring that she liked and she commented on it every time i saw her. I met Candice as my new Dr in Huber heights 3 yrs . She was the only person who actually found out what was wrong w me after many years. She was truly the best Dr I've ever had . Just heard today about her passing. She was my doctor for several years and was one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met. She truly cared about her patients and was wonderful about taking the time needed to care for her patients.

I just found out about this, I'm heartbroken for her family, friends and patients! She was the only reason I decided to go back to a rheumatologist after years of not getting a diagnosis and by the 2nd visit I had one confirmed. She was the first doctor that didn't make me feel crazy, and her personality lit up the room. Losing her makes no sense...

I am so sorry for your loss- Dr Flaugher was an amazing lady and she did more for me in one visit than several physicians had done in years. No matter how much pain I was in, Dr. Flaugher always found a way to make you smile and would then say "now lets get down to business". We expect our elderly doctors to pass away but never when they are so young. This still just seems so surreal. Dr. Flaugher you are loved and missed by your staff and patients.

My Heart goes out to her Family, friends and all that had the Glory to met her. She was a wonderful Dr. with such a beautiful smile that will live in my mind forever. She was one of the rare Drs. that I was blessed to have. She always treated me with dignity and respect each time I saw her. She would go out of her way to great you and truly cared for how I was doing. She treated me as a person and not a patient, she treated me as a friend. She never acted as if she was better or beyond me because she was a Dr. I was truly blessed to have her enter my life and I thank God for sending her to us. I have been her patient since the day she came to Richmond. So many times I was in despair and depressed because the pain of the Rheumatoid Arthritis was unbearable, but by the time I left her office, I would feel better, she took the extra time to talk with me and would take care of me. I have had other Arthritis Drs. but none did or will ever compare to her loving and thoughtful ways. I will miss you deeply. I guess Heaven needed you more. Our loss is Heavens gain. Gone to soon. My heart is broken. Dr. Flaugher has been my Rheumatologist for many years but she was so much more than a doctor. She was a beautiful person, always with that beautiful smile. Funny, caring attentive, professional yet she made you feel like her friend. I cannot imagine going into that office and not seeing her. Dr. Flaugher was such a loving and caring lady with an infectious smile. I always looked forward to my appointments with her even if I was feeling miserable. She didn't rush through your appointment like so many doctors do. I knew I was going to love Doc from the minute she walked in the room on that first visit. She flung open the door and made this ta-da gesture as if saying I have arrived! Every visit was a joy. She would do her assessment then we would just talk about whatever. I loved hearing about the many cruises she went on, the clothes she was buying, the latest diet, whatever. She helped me tremendously when I had surgery 2 years ago - helped me manage my symptoms when I had to be off my meds . She was truly a treasure... you just wanted to be around her. She always left me with a smile and the feeling I was visiting with an old friend. Her passing has left a huge void... My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dr. Flaugher was my doctor for about 10 years. I loved the stories she shared with me about the cruises that she would take her sister and employes on and shared with me her collection of her different colors of diamond jewelry. I know she loved her patients and her job, for she worked hard with me to get my RA and my Fybromyalga under control and she would sit down with you and talk with you eye to eye. I will deeply miss her and how much I hated what happened to her that ended her life, she was one of the best and I hope our community will make a Memorial in her honor, for she so deserved it!! I would like to express my deepest condolences and prayers to her family because I know how much she loved them. Now that you have been given your wings, I hope you fly high and I know you are a amazing guardian Angel. I know I will always keep your memory alive and tucked away in my heart and I love you.......
