I called Athena the Warrior Princess for her fierce fighting spirit yet she did so with the grace and nobility of royalty. I cannot fully express the deep sadness and sense of loss I feel upon her passing. I never believed that our resplendent goddess Athena would be darkened by the terrible disease of cancer. She fought bravely until the end. As famed Sportscaster Stewart Scott once said, "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live." By that definition, Athena beat cancer magnificently.
Bless Athena and her family. My thoughts in this difficult time of transition.

I really don't have the right words which is why it has taken me so long to do it. You were always so tough Athena. Always there for me. Even more than my parents, I guess I thought you'd always be there. You were there through so many tough times for me. You will always be in my heart. I love you my friend.

Eva, I am so sorry to hear this news. I remember your mom as being such a wonderful mother! Cherish the memories. I lost my Mom on November 8, so I know how difficult it is to have a loss during this season.

I had the great pleasure of getting to know Athena may years ago while working with her in a group home. She forever had a smile on her face and love in her heart for everyone and she was missed by staff and clients when she left to continue her career. She'll be missed deeply by her family, especially her children, and friends deeply and forever. Her angel wings will carry her in the hearts of everyone.

This saddens me to no end. I knew Athena thru Girl Scouts and Tae Kwan Do, she got me out of my slump by encouraging me to try it. I will miss her humor, her can-do spirit, her kindness and spark. I will miss her terribly. To Eva and Dimitri, your mother was proud of you and loved you fiercely.
