Bertram Dudley COLE III Obituary
COLE III, Bertram Dudley Bertram Dudley Cole III, a retired Navy Captain, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2018. He was born on February 15, 1935 in West Palm Beach, FL to Bertram Dudley Cole, Jr. and Edna Bremer Cole. He proudly served in the United States Navy, including two tours in Vietnam in the 1960s. A highlight of his career was the opportunity to serve as the Navy's liaison to Queen Margrethe of Denmark. Following the Navy, he embarked on a successful career in West Palm Beach as an insurance executive. He served as president of the West Palm Beach Rotary Club, where his father and grandfather also served as president. He enjoyed boat trips to the Bahamas, fishing, and golf. He spent many hours in the pool at the North Palm Beach Country Club as a member of the Masters swim team. He was a graduate of Principia College. Captain Cole is survived by his loving wife Mary Campbell Cole and three children: Calisa Cole Gouyet (Albert), Bertram Dudley "Bo" Cole IV, and Cheryl Cole Howell (Eric), and nine grandchildren: Andre Gouyet, Stefan Gouyet, Alexander Gouyet, Caitlin Cole, Bertram Dudley "Bert" Cole V, Kyle Cole, Hannah Howell, Tobin Howell, and Henry Howell. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Cole Corr and many loving nephews and nieces. A service with military funeral honors will be held Thursday, October 11, 2:45PM at the South Florida National Cemetery.
