Carol Patterson Obituary
PATTERSON, Carol Carol Patterson, 86, a long time resident of Jupiter FL, passed away August 22nd at MorseLife in WPB. Born in 1931 in Jamaica, NY, Carol received her Bachelor of Nursing from Adelphi College in 1953. Her career included hospital and public school nursing and health education in NY and hospital nursing in Florida. Carol married Laurie in 1953 and gave birth to seven sons before her ninth wedding anniversary. While raising a growing family in Babylon, NY, she continued to work to help pay for 43 years of college for her children. At the same time, she volunteered in a variety of community organizations and church ministries. She was recognized as Babylon's first Mother of the Year in 1971 but was most proud of her son's and their families. In later years, Carol enjoyed cruises with her husband, family reunions/gatherings, volunteering at local churches, entertaining at area nursing homes, painting with watercolor, and feeding the ducks at Indian Creek Park. She is survived by her sons, Greg of Northfield, ME, Scott of Monroe, WI, Steve of Hyannis, MA, Lance of Mead, OK, Rich of RPB, FL, Don of Palm Bay, FL and Brett of Franklin, TN, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 3395 Burns Rd, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 on Saturday, Sept. 9th at 3:30 PM. All friends and family are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Gifts will be combined toward acquiring a named pew in her memory.
