Jean ZUVER Obituary
ZUVER, Jean Ann February 15, 1934 December 22, 2017 Jean Ann Zuver was born in Bronxville, New York and raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. In high school she was a Junior National Swimming Champion on the AAU Team. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mt. Holyoke College in 1955, where she was Poet Laureate. In New York, Mrs. Zuver was a top advertising copywriter. While at Hockaday Agency, she created the famous "Just Wear a Smile and a Jantzen" campaign for their bathing suit line. She was later a lead copywriter on the Clairol account at Doyle Dane Bernbach. Family was most important to Mrs. Zuver and she was deeply loved by her sons and their families. She and her husband, Dick Zuver, along with their sons Blaine and Alexander, lived in New York City, and summered in Bay Head, New Jersey. In 1967, Dick Zuver's career took the family to Heidelberg, Germany for a few years. Vacations were spent traveling throughout Europe. In 1969 they returned to the U.S. and lived year-round in Bay Head at "Bonnie Dune", overlooking the dunes and ocean, along with her beloved Springer Spaniels and Siamese cats. The two later returned to Mr. Zuver's boyhood home, Palm Beach, where she was head of the Swim Committee at the Bath and Tennis Club for many years. She taught English to immigrants at the English-Speaking Union and was an avid reader. She is survived by her sons Blaine and Alexander (Michelle), grandsons Nicholas, Martin, Grant and Reed, sister Virginia Pitman, nieces Cordelia, Amanda and Barbara (Edward Smith). Services will be held at St. Edwards Church on Saturday, January 13 at 11:00AM.
