Maria BARNES Obituary
BARNES, Maria Maria Barnes, 87, of Palm Beach, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2017, surrounded by her daughter and extended family. Maria raised her family and established her long-term career as an interior designer in Palm Beach County. Maria was a pioneer in the South Florida Interior Design Industry, integrating her creativity as an artist and as a professional serving her clients with excellence and ingenuity. Maria was a longstanding member of Le Club Intercontinental and a lover of the arts, especially the opera. Well known for her generosity, sense of style, and talent for entertaining, Maria doted on family and friends with luncheons and dinners for special events every chance she got. An avid tennis player for over 40 years, Maria, also enjoyed time with friends and family on and off the courts. Whether she was competing for points or lingering over conversation after the game, Maria never lost her winning smile, and the ability to make all who knew her feel loved and welcomed. Maria was committed to many charitable causes and was passionate about giving back to the community. This passion extended, in particular, to families in need. Maria was a champion supporter for Adopt-a-Family of the Palm Beaches giving of her time and financial resources, to impact families in the best way possible: building the community, one family at a time. Maria was devoted to her friends and family. She lived a full life and will be remembered with great affection by those who had the opportunity to meet her. Maria is survived by her daughter, Brenda Rudman, and her two youngest granddaughters, Luila Barber, and Faith Majors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everard Barnes, her oldest daughter, Lilly Cheverez, and her oldest granddaughter, Natul Cheverez. There will be a Celebration of Life memorial on January 6, 2018 between 2:00PM and 4:00PM, followed by a service with the Rev. Dr. Robert Norris who serves as pastor at the Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach. The memorial and service will be held at the Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33417 (Tel. 561-832-5171) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maria Barnes to Adopt-a-Family of the Palm Beaches (www.aafpbc.org).
